Shreem Electric's All Polypropylene Ultra Heavy Duty (UHD APP) capacitors are designed for demanding power factor correction applications where high overloads and heavy switching duty are expected. The conducting plate is made of thick aluminium foil, which gives low resistance and low losses (below 0.5 W/kVAr), and allows the capacitor to safely handle up to 2 times rated current. The design runs at lower voltage stress for a long working life, with deep oil penetration between the polypropylene film layers to increase dielectric breakdown strength, and an extended conducting plate that provides ample end contact area. Heavy brass studs give the terminals higher current carrying capacity and mechanical strength, and the capacitor can withstand high switching inrush currents. Built to IS 13585-2012 and IEC 60931-1-1996, the range is available in 10, 15, 20 and 25 kVAr at 415 V and 440 V, 50 Hz, with high overvoltage withstand (up to +30% for 30 minutes and +50% for 1 minute in every 24 hours), a capacitance tolerance of -5% to +7%, and internal or external fuse protection. Externally fitted discharge resistors reduce the voltage to 75 V within 3 minutes.
