Shreem Electric's Pole Mounted Capacitor Banks are installed on 11 kV and 33 kV distribution lines to improve power factor and maintain the voltage profile, making them one of the most effective solutions for reactive power compensation. They are available as fixed or switched systems. In the switched version, the bank is switched by a solenoid-type capacitor switch operated by a power factor correction relay. The capacitor units are mounted on racks fixed to a double-pole or single-pole structure, and each bank comes with accessories such as current and potential transformers, surge arresters on each phase and a weather-resistant controller box. A reference installation is a 714 kVAr, 12 kV external fuse pole mounted capacitor bank. The banks are controlled by Shreem's SPF08-HT Automatic Controller Unit, a microprocessor-based three-phase power factor controller that continuously monitors voltage and current on all three phases. It calculates the reactive power required to reach the target power factor and intelligently switches the capacitor steps while considering discharge conditions. The controller displays phase-wise voltage, current, active, reactive and apparent power, power factor and harmonic content (%THD and odd harmonics up to the 15th order) on a 16 x 2 backlit LCD. Key features include up to 8 programmable outputs, a wide auxiliary supply range (100 to 300 V AC and 0 to 30 V DC), automatic CT polarity correction, a standard 144 x 144 mm panel cutout, selectable 1 A or 5 A CT secondary, user-settable protections for voltage, load and capacitor current, temperature and frequency, 30 days of hourly data and fault recording, a switching counter up to 10,000 operations, and RS232 and RS485 communication ports with SCADA compatibility.
