Shreem Electric's ND-VAR is a range of cylindrical metallized polypropylene (MPP) capacitors, available in Normal Duty and premium Normal Duty+ versions, for fixed and automatic power factor correction and harmonic filter systems. Each unit has a compact aluminium can with biodegradable, non-PCB resin impregnation for better heat dissipation, self-healing dielectric, low losses (below 0.5 W/kVAr total) and an explosion-proof design with an overpressure-sensitive three-phase disconnector. Rated at 440 V, 50 Hz and built to IS 13340-1/2 and IEC 60831-1/2, the range covers 1 to 25 kVAr in delta connection, with Normal Duty handling 1.3 times rated current and inrush up to 200 times, and Normal Duty+ handling 1.5 times rated current and inrush up to 250 times. Normal Duty+ offers a longer life expectancy of 150,000 hours (versus 100,000 hours) and a wider temperature class of -25/55°C, and is VDE Germany and CPRI type tested. The capacitors are mounted vertically with an M8 or M12 stud, have external discharge resistors (75 V in 3 minutes), and are suited for altitudes up to 2000 m and humidity up to 95%.
