Shreem Electric's G-VAR is a range of gas filled cylindrical metallized polypropylene (MPP) capacitors with a wavy cut film design, used for fixed and automatic power factor correction, harmonic filter systems and wind mills. Each unit has a compact aluminium can filled with inert nitrogen gas for better heat dissipation, a self-healing dielectric, low losses (below 0.45 W/kVAr total) and an explosion-proof design with an overpressure-sensitive three-phase disconnector, along with finger-touch-proof terminals that allow parallel connection. Built to IS 13340-1/2 and IEC 60831-1/2, the capacitors are rated for 400 to 525 V at 50/60 Hz and can handle 2.2 times rated current and inrush up to 400 times rated current. They have a mean life expectancy of 180,000 hours, a temperature class of -40/55°C, and are suited for altitudes up to 4000 m and humidity up to 95%. They can be mounted in any position using an M12 stud, use external discharge devices (75 V in 3 minutes), are IP20 as standard (IP54 for outdoor mounting on request), and are available with M5 screw terminals (G-VAR Cap) or M10 threaded stud terminals (G-VAR BT Cap).
