Shreem Electric's Metal Oxide Surge Arresters are gapless lightning arresters that protect electrical equipment and networks from overvoltages caused by lightning strokes, switching surges and temporary overvoltages. Built with MOV gapless technology and certified by NABL accredited laboratories, they offer quick response to surge voltage, high energy dissipation capability, negligible wattage loss under normal operation, and compact, lightweight, pollution-free construction. They are available in two classes. The distribution class (3 kV to 36 kV, 5 kA nominal discharge current) is designed for pole mounting in distribution networks, with porcelain housing and proper end sealing against moisture. The station class (3 kV to 198 kV and above, 10 kA nominal discharge current, line discharge class 1, 2 and 3) is intended for substation equipment protection and is self-supporting. It features eccentric assembly of MOV blocks supported by silicon rubber for better thermal stability, hermetic sealing for longer life, a pressure relief system that prevents explosive failure of the housing, and virtually maintenance-free operation apart from cleaning. All arresters are designed and tested to IEC 60099-4, ANSI/IEEE C62.11 and IS 3070 Part 3, operate at 48 to 62 Hz, and are designed for altitudes up to 1000 m and an ambient temperature averaging 45°C with excursions to 60°C. An optional DC105 discharge counter is also available, which records the number of discharges and monitors leakage current through a 0 to 10 mA ammeter, without needing any external power supply.
