Shreem Electric's HD-VAR is a range of heavy duty cylindrical metallized polypropylene (MPP) capacitors for fixed and automatic power factor correction and harmonic filter systems. Each unit has a compact aluminium can with biodegradable, non-PCB resin impregnation for better heat dissipation, a self-healing dielectric, low losses (below 0.5 W/kVAr total) and an explosion-proof design with an overpressure-sensitive three-phase disconnector, along with finger-touch-proof terminals. Built to IS 13340-1/2 and IEC 60831-1/2, the capacitors are rated for 400 to 525 V at 50/60 Hz and can handle 2.2 times rated current and inrush up to 400 times rated current. They have a mean life expectancy of 180,000 hours, a temperature class of -40/55°C, and are suited for altitudes up to 4000 m and humidity up to 95%. They are mounted vertically with an M8 or M12 stud, use external discharge resistors (75 V in 3 minutes), and are available with M5 screw terminals (HD-VAR) or M10 threaded stud terminals (HD-VAR BT).
