Shreem Electric's BOX-VAR is a range of square design metallized polypropylene (MPP) capacitors, available in Normal Duty and Heavy Duty versions, for fixed and automatic power factor correction and harmonic filter systems. Each unit is housed in a C.R.C.A. square box casing with louvers for better heat dissipation, filled with non-PCB, biodegradable resin or oil impregnation, and features a self-healing dielectric, low losses (below 0.5 W/kVAr total) and an explosion-proof design with an overpressure-sensitive three-phase disconnector. Built to IS 13340-1/2 for indoor use, the Normal Duty version is rated for 415 to 440 V, handles 1.8 times rated current and inrush up to 300 times, and has a life expectancy of 135,000 hours with a temperature class of -10/55°C. The Heavy Duty version is rated for 440 to 525 V, handles 2.8 times rated current and inrush up to 450 times, and offers a life expectancy of 180,000 hours with a temperature class of -25/55°C. Both operate at 50/60 Hz, are naturally air cooled, support vertical or wall mounting, use external discharge devices (75 V in 3 minutes) and threaded stud terminals from M4 to M12, and are suited for altitudes up to 3000 m (Normal Duty) or 4000 m (Heavy Duty) and humidity up to 95%.
